"Hopefully not while you're looking for that meal." Artemis teased. "I know how dragons can be about ladies." Her face, phrasing and body language all said she was joking and staying "in character" however there was a certain hardness in her tone that only the more observant would notice.
She grinned at the staff member. "No trouble at all. We were just putting on a little show for the our fellow con goers. I'm sure some people caught it on video, maybe if you ask nicely you guys could use the footage to help promote next year's con." Her tone and smile were saccharine. "Feel free to ask the bystanders, I'm sure they enjoyed it."

"Oh, yes," Giles took the cue, "Very interesting to watch."
He took the chance to size up the staff member. So this was the quality of monster who was making sure the event ran smoothly, and would be guarding the exits later on... "...You look a bit flustered. Have there been any problems elsewhere?"

Johnathan was tall and muscular, though his costume seemed to make it awkward for him to move. He even seemed to have an inch or two over the dragon in his human form as he looked him in the eye and gave him a quizzical 'what?' as Brand stepped between him and the girl. Was he afraid he was going to snatch her away from him or something? He rolled his eyes. Dragons could be so territorial. Or at least, he assumed he was a dragon from his costume.
"Look, that's great and all, I'm glad you're all getting into the spirit of things. But this is a matter of security. You can't go swinging real weapons around like that all willy nilly. Do you know how many nerds think they know how to use a sword? All of them." He began to lecture. "And if we let you two start swinging real weapons around, then every other schmuck who's seen ninja turtles one to many times is going to want in on the action. And then we gotta start worrying about you accidentally breaking one of the vendor's wares, and blocking the path and backing up traffic through the stalls..." He began to count off on his fingers all the things that could go wrong with a tired practice. "And if you stab somebody? Boom. Lawsuit. This place could get shut down. And what if the ambulance or police are called?" He said specifically to the dragon now. "Then this place is DEFINITELY going to have issues. And not only that, it would ruin the mood for everybody."
He turned to Giles at the question. "You can't attempt to keep all these people in line without being a little flustered." He pointed out, though in all honesty he had plenty of patience on that end. What was bothering him was his immediate desire to solve this issue, like most issues, with his stomach. Of course he had no intention of devouring Artemis (or any girl that walked by) no matter how much he wanted to. Otherwise he'd be denying some other patron of a meal and that would get him fired. But having to hold back when every other person he saw belonged in his gut was mildly irritating.
He turned back to Brand and Artemis, taking a step around to get a clear look at both of them. "Look, I know you're having fun but you can't just start swinging swords around. At least not here. There might be a prop fight event or something if you want to go looking. So I just need you two to promise that you're not going to cause any more trouble and use those things for violence." He said as he pulled out a light blue twist tie for each of them. At least, not until the main event starts. "And then let me tie these around the handle of your weapon so that other staffers know you've been given the talk and that you don't seem like the dangerous types..." He said, eyes lingering particularly on Artemis for a moment. His supervisors would probably want her weapons confiscated immediately, but he didn't feel like starting a scene right now. Plus, the twist ties were thick and annoying enough that they would make wielding any weapon with a short handle, like a sword, inefficient to use. And they were they locked into place, making it so they couldn't be removed without a good knife and a bit of effort. He handed them each one for Brand's spear and Artemis's main sword.

Brand looked impatient through the speech, not liking being scolded like a teenager. He reached out and took the little twist tie with a nod. Okay, he'd let things get out of hand. Fine. He'd take his medicine with as much grace as he could muster.
"I understand," Brand said. "I'll confine my weapons use to the events. You have my word on it."
He glanced at Artemis.
"The invitation to the ball still stands, My Lady," he said. "And I look forward to seeing you in the future."

Artemis took the tie and rolled her eyes. Honestly she would easily be able to cut through them with one of the plethora of knifes on her person. However she didn't feel like bowing to the whims of a self important rent-a-cop. And a non-human one at that.
"You know I'd tell you where you could shove this, but I doubt you'd be able to reach. Especially with your costume, who ever heard of a cosplaying staff member?" She held out her hand with the twist tie in front of the centaurs' face and deliberately dropped it.
"Fuck this, I'm going to get a drink."

Johnathan's face went stony and cold, the emotion leaving his face as he tried to remain stoic.
Don't eat her. Don't eat her. Do not eat her. His entire body was attempting to fling itself upon her as his mind held him back like a very strained dam holding back a tidal wave of voracious intent. He wasn't scared of her after all. He had been stabbed before. He could take being stabbed again. His hoof ached under the skirt as it tensed and he imagined rearing up and dislocating her shoulder. He slowly leaned forward to looker her at eye level.
"I worked very hard on my costume and I like it very much. So I'm not going to ruin it in a scuffle with you." He said as he suddenly gave her a smirk. "But if you're going to be like that then I'll just have to let security know. You seem like a smart girl so they probably aren't going to bother you very much. But if you're not going to be playing by the rules then we might have to put you on the convention ban list." He said as his smirk turned into a large smug grin. "Which means you won't be coming back next year." He taunted in a threatening tone with implications he wouldn't realize Artemis understood.

Brand watched her go, one eyebrow raised. This one knew something about what was really going on around here, he thought. He was certain of it now. And yet she remained. Furthermore she had the skills to protect herself. With dangerously real weapons. She was after someone or something, Brand concluded. And she was risking being surrounded by his kind to find it.
Dangerous prey indeed. He wondered what her number was, and who would end up coming after her. And whether or not her predator would be able to handle her.

Her only response to the taunting was to flip him off over her shoulder as she walked away. The unexpected work out had definitely made her thirsty.

Giles placed a clawed hand on Johnathan's shoulder (wait, hadn't he been using entirely human hands to work his smartphone earlier? He must have put on those gloves awfully fast...)
"I just don't see why you're so hostile. It's only natural for attendees of both genders to get into character..." his voice had a smug quality to it, "As far as I'm concerned, her actions are just part of the fun."

He huffed. "Cause I put a lot of effort into this costume." He grunted in reply. "And of course I'm the bad guy for trying to make sure nobody gets hurt. Like I care, I just hope I get to see her enjoy the main event."

"Precisely my point," Giles hisses sibilantly in his ear, "An altercation involving your security forces would only ruin everyone's fun. But I've seen other guests who are much more suited to dealing with her. Let them handle it."

Cat-girl and dog-boy wander from booth to booth. The boy snaps up anything free, and from time to time the girl compliments some monster on his costume. The boy's name badge reads "My Name Is NOAH!", while the girl's says "My Name Is VV!"
Noah's backpack is already bulging with swag, but by the gods, he's finding a way to fit it. Right up until his bag tears, spilling its contents on the floor.

With the security situation resolved, Brand turned around and watched with a certain amusement at the pair. Particularly when Noah's pack blew. He leaned a little oin his spear as he watched the accident unfold.
"Need a hand?" he asked.

Noah has already squatted down to grab at his dropped things when Brand speaks. He looks up, and up, when the first up isn't enough. "Uh, heh, I guess I do, don't I? Nice costume." He attempts a smile, but it's still pretty obvious that the sheer size of Brand intimidates him.
When she hears her brother speaking Vivienne turns, realizing what's happened. "Thanks," she says, bending as well to pick up a T-shirt from the scattered ruins. "Any chance you have an extra bag, mister?"

Brand glanced at his own bag, a canvas about the size of a large purse. He pulled out a paper bag that was left over from lunch.
"Maybe this will help a little," he said. "For the light stuff, anyway."
