"Oh, I'm not involved in the raffle, that's just about the time when I get off working here," answered Ormen, taking Artemis's nachos out of the microwave and laying them before her. "I don't know much about it, nor when the contest is. I've actually been meaning to ask, what are you supposed to be going as?" he asked Artemis. "Careful, those are hot."

Artemis blew on her nachos and took a bite. "Well I might as well after all the trouble I went through putting this together." She smirked and sipped from her glass. To be honest the main reason she was entering was so she could pass off her outfit and weapons as realistic cosplay.
When she was asked what exactly her costume was she smirked and took another bite. "Simple, I'm an adventurous rogue off to find my fortune amongst all these monsters. You know, like dungeons and dragons."

Dungeons and Dragons? Ivershka heard of that game. He couldn't grasp why people enjoyed it. He did read about the ability "Swallow Whole" in the manual. There was even an enabler in Serpent Kingdom called Gape of the Serpent for his preferred size ratio. Yet, it was notoriously hard to actually play as a predator. It wasn't that difficult to find games where one could play as a predator on his home planet. Ironically, man-eaters like he were more openly despised there compared to here. He rotated his chair around and tried to look at the hunter from his end of the bar. "What do you like about Dungeons and Dragons the most, madam?" The dragon man asked her. His twitching started to subside as the second round of chicken hit his stomach.

"Ah, but that's not a bad coincidence," Shura nodded, downing more water. She was starting to feel more comfortable around him in spite of the short amount of time they'd been conversing.
She leaned back a bit to get a better look at Artemis' outfit. "Well hey, it looks legit. Fits the theme too." Looking between her and the dragon, she couldn't help but smirk.

"Yes. Maybe you'll have to show me around afterwards," he said with a smile, before leaning in, his voice too low for the others to hear. "You know, no offense to those two and their kid stuff, but I think you look much more fetching without a costume. Simplicity is elegance, after all."

Shura felt her cheeks light up a little; not because of what he'd said, but because of how low and close his voice had gotten. She laughed, folding an arm across her chest self-consciously.
"You're not bad yourself," she murmured before she could stop herself. Her, flirting back? How often was that? And she was sober, so it couldn't be blamed on the alcohol this time.

Artemis smirked again. "Honestly? It's all the crazy shit that can happen when you get a creative group of people together." She took another bite of her nachos and another drink of her tea before replying to Shura. "Well thank you. Like I said If you got to do something, better do it right. Besides aren't the costumes part of the entire experience? And I wouldn't insult paying customers if I were you."
She chuckled and took another drink, before working on her nachos.

Ormen waiting until Artemis had finished butting in before talking to Shura. He was going to have to keep an eye on that one - something didn't sit quite right with him about her and those weapons looked awfully... real. In the meantime, he was glad that no one was picking up on the subtle hints as to what he was hiding behind the bar - he looked mostly human, but there were some tells - in the way he moved, a little, though he was careful not to go too fast. His eyes were a rather strange shade of gold, but only in the right light, and some of his teeth were a little sharper, but only if carefully observed... that was one reason to try and be as charming as possible, to give people something else to think about.
"Oh, me?" he laughed, running a hand through messy brown hair. "Well, that's very kind of you to say, but you flatter me. Trust me, if I was anything interesting, I'd be trying to sell photos of myself," he joked."I consider myself very well versed in what is beautiful and what is not - and what beauty is worth capturing."

The bar tender was insulting Ivershka behind his back?
Well, every monster man that didn't have a conscience was a potential enemy. So there's no point on taking those words to heart. However, there wasn't any harm in doing any underhanded wordfencing. He did love a good word fight.
Ivershka gave the naga a cursory glare, vertical pupils thinned, before looking at Artemis again.
"All the crazy shit, you say?" The dragon man answered. "But there's just so much lost when dice and sheets get in the way."
His cheeks reddened, almost blending in with his sideburn scales. "Have you tried freeform roleplaying? It's like fucking," The last word, though spoken in a drunk stupor, came out harsh and sharp like one of his fangs. "But with words."
"The beauty of such blooms when people let loose their basest desires. Only then can they weave a story both will be invested in no matter their leanings." He clenched his right hand into a fist. "The crudest words, when used right, can be even more powerful than delicate language."
"Unlike some brutes." The dragon man hissed. "Too much politeness mutes the feelings you want to convey. And I should know that best. I am an author."

"Oh, but adding in an element of luck can make the scenario more fun," a young woman interjected as she walked past, taking a seat. "If you know ahead of time how things turn out, some people will get bored. ...Sorry if I seemed rude for interrupting."

"Well, you know the old saying." Shura shrugged. "Eye of the beholder. It's really just a matter of perspective. Though I suppose that's a rather important creed to follow for someone in the photography field."
She was impressed by the flowery language that came from the dragon. It was unexpected, to be sure, but actually very insightful. It wasn't a surprise when he then revealed his profession as an author.

"I agree with the newcomer. After all The dice make you rely on your creativity more than freeform. After all the random element keeps you on your toes. Or are you saying you're a LARPer?" Artemis asked with a smirk on her face as she continued to twirl her butterfly knife and keep it from actually opening. She took a drink of her Arnold Palmer. "Yeah you're a regular Hemingway, down to the personal habits."

"You can have that luck even without a dice." Ivershka crossed his arm and huffed. Such a simpleton! He also crinkled his nose at disgust at Artemis' attempt at needling the dragon. Since when were LARPing and randomness mutually exclusive? Sure he did it with the prey he gobbled up, but not all the time. "A bit of both, actually." He responded, stifling the urge to snarl harsh words at her. "I prefer textual roleplays since it's hard to bring some of the kinesthetic elements to life with props. It bothers me when something isn't replicated one to one when it comes to touchy touchy parts."

"Fair enough," answered Ormen with a soft smile, amused at the banter between Artemis and Ivershka. "Well, I think Mr. Dragon costume does have a point about crudeness..." he opined. "Sometimes the best art is raw and... direct... Ah, sorry, nearly missed you there," he said to the new young woman. "Can I get you anything? First drink is free, or at least, costs only your name."

"Brianna Green," she introduced herself, "And I'll just have a soda. A catboy creep tried to slip me some alcohol earlier in secret, so I'm even more inclined to stay sober for all this."
