Just like any other con she visited, it was the exhibition hall that was bustling with people and excitement. Games, toys, costumes, clothes and even snack booths were everywhere she can see. She'd briefly separated from her new companion as she took it easy to lean against another wall, her bags at her aside. It looked like she was engulfed in something on her phone, but she was watching. While there were women in costumes, it was the men that really showed off as they ambled on through. In fact in her time here, or perhaps she was being sexist, (she didn't know) but nothing the ladies had put together could outshine or come close to the fantastic array she'd seen from the guys. Saffron hummed, idly flipping through her phone as she texted her sister about what she could buy as a present for her niece. Reception was bad, unfortunately, but she'd get it in time while she was wandering through. She'd been here once already. Evident by the small bag that hung off her shoulder filled with small monster memorabilia, but the hall had proven too large for her to scour in one go.
This place is strange.
While she wasn't actively looking now her dark eyes were scanning the crowd from her position. Not for the booths, but the ones costumed as they move through.
For one thing, it doesn't make any sense. Or am I seeing things?
She studied with animals, she worked with animals, she examined animals, and some of these "costumes" were more than just a little real to set alarms off in her head. Willful ignorance played a part on keeping her optimistic but the encounter with Artie and Kino was now breaking that down somewhat. Something was very much off...about the both of them, but she didn't have enough information to pinpoint what.
Artie wasn't kidding. These guys have costumes to even rival Hollywood levels of complexity and accuracy. It's not even that. I'd understand one or two, but I've seen so many that just blew my mind! Animatronics? How on earth do these young men gather enough money to even acquire the tech that moved things so naturally? I'm not a robotics expert, but has technology even advanced that much?
It frankly did bother her and at that time her normally cheerful countenance had given way to cool reflection. She flipped her phone to sleep then stepped out the exhibit hall, hoping to see her new friend. Yet the question that was in the back of her mind was, Is something really going on? For now she made herself ignore it as she wandered over to one of the booths close by.

A man rounds the corner of the very same booth, only narrowly missing the young woman before him.
His face is covered by a hand-carved wooden mask of a hawk's face, and the sun-bronzed skin of his bare chest peeps at her from under a cloak of varicolored feathers. He throws up an arm reflexively, inadvertently shifting the cloak to reveal that the only thing he's wearing on the lower part of his torso are high-strapped leather sandals and a potentially-scandalous breech-clout!
"Whoops!" the guy says, in a surprisingly flute-like voice, "Gotta be careful 'round here." His tone makes it unclear whether he's muttering it to himself, or very quietly warning the woman before him.
"I think I dropped… ah, there it is!" He stoops, picking up a prop wooden club banded with metal. "Warclub," he explains, explaining nothing.
He straightens a badge pinned to his rainbow cloak ("My name is MONTY!"), gently tosses his hair (as garishly colored as his feathers!), and says, "Do you need help with your bags, miss…?"

After finding no sign of her friends, Saffron headed back inside to inspect some booths on her own. She hummed as she looked over the wares of a booth that was selling an arrangement of plush toys. Some were from characters she knew well, others were original and some were completely obscure. Not all were of monster boys, there were quite a few pure and adorable monsters among them and it was these she was focused on. She picked one up, squeezing it to ascertain its softness, and to see how much she liked the fabric.
She made a quiet, "Oh!" when the new and rather flamboyant looking man stepped into the picture, nearly dropping her plush toy in the process. She had to scramble in mid air, making a few quick swipes before she caught it just a little before gravity dragged it to her knees! "Phew...!" With her task done, she looked towards the new person and nodded.
"Wow...you're so...colorful!" She exclaimed, eyes going wide as she looked him over. In fact the stranger all around seemed quite "loud", with just his colors alone. She then looked down to her bags, which were hanging off her shoulders, and shook her head. "No thanks, I can handle these no problem, but thanks for the offer, sir~!"

Is that praise? Monty will take it as such.
"Thank you. I picked each feather myself." He beams under the light of her praise, straightening to his full height of 5'3".
He'd also carefully selected every lock of hair that went into his wig; each had been taken from a lover and incorporated into the ostentatious display.
"Cute earrings," says the thunderbird. He removes his mask, revealing a youthful but sharp-edged visage with blue eyes. His hairless face bears a dozen piercings between his eyebrows and ears. "Do you like bats?"

Saffron couldn't help but chuckle at his reaction. It wasn't lost on her that the young man seemed to preen himself lightly from just her acknowledgement of his colorful form. If only she knew where it came from. The poor girl would be absolutely livid and even appalled, but she was oblivious to that of course.
At the mention of her ear rings, she reached up and dangled the little black bats. In the dark they didn't stand out very much, being pure black, but shined a little under the light. "Wow, you have very pretty eyes too. I'm..." She reached up and held up her name tag. SAFFRON GARIBEAULT, it read in big bold letters.

Did she compliment his eyes? She did? The blue orbs widen in response to Saffron's praise. He holds his mask at his side, locks eyes with Saffron. "You're quite a sight, yourself." When she lifts her name tag to his gaze, he stares at it for a second, but cannot decipher it.
"Nice to meet you, Miss... how do I pronounce that?"
With any luck, she won't have to know that he can't read.

It had taken Artemis a while to extract herself from the ball. Partially because her "partner was so insistent, and partially because she had actually begun to enjoy herself. However she managed to pull herself away and continue the search for her friend/charge. Finally she saw Saffy in the exhibition hall.
"SAFFY!How have you been?" She called out as she headed over to join her friend. Currently she hadn't recognized the thunderbird who had tried to hit her in the bar.

"Oh hey Artie!" Saffron waved towards the other girl, as she flashed a grin back towards Monty.
"Oh and it's prounounced, Saffron Garibeault! But you can call me, Saff or Saffy." She extended her hand in greeting, as she placed her bags on the floor beside them quickly to ease the movement. "And that's my new friend, Artemis. So Monty, how'd you get together this amazing costume of yours? It's so beautiful and really eye-catching! I love seeing all the creative types of people here~!"

Of course he recognizes Artemis; slipping the mask on again, he nonetheless affects a bow in her direction. "Milady."
"I had some help," he admits to Saffy, in regard to her query about his costume. "The feathers in particular took a long time, making sure I got all the colors. I'm glad you appreciate the effort, though - that makes it all worth it."

Artemis walked over to Saff. "Looks like you're having fun." She nods back to the thunderbird a bit warily, wondering if she's seen him before.
