"Does this work?" Aul Sol flicked a green silicon board with a dark blue talon. The board's golden circuits shimmered a burning white in response. "Yup, it does." He put the board next to several others labeled, "Clairvoyance." That label wasn't a lie. But neither was the label a truth. A failure here and a failure there was enough to sell the wares to both humans and monsters without security snooping on him. Neither was it enough for people to get Aul Sol in trouble for fraud. After all, the magical circuits were just conduits for his power. On top of the ladylike dragon man's cart were boxes of more innocuous trinkets. Some were USB chargers shaped like monster men with their mouths wide open. Others were plastic lightsabers that glowed so bright you could mistake them for the real thing. But the eldritch dragon's favorite trinket from his wares were the tubs of quivering thick, pink putty. They were slick, sticky, and hot like viscera, but were harmless to touch. He then stood proud with one hand on his curvy hips and the other high in the air. Everyone had to see his glorious, dark purple plates. Once he posed himself, Aul Sol snapped his talons. The sign above his booth shone brightly with the letters, "Faux Power". Sometimes the letters "au" flickered and were replaced with an "o". Quite ironic since Aul Sol had ears like a fox or a cat, but was neither ."Faux Power's open for business!" He declared. "Get your fabulous, fantastic, and most importantly, useful souvenirs here!"

Quietly, softly, move through them like water.
Julia's mind was focused on pushing through the crowds while doing her best to not touch or bump into anyone. The last thing she wanted to do was to squeak a sorry out while she made her way... somewhere. Why was she even here anyways? Her friend had literally bought her this gift and she didn't even know him that well! She felt overwhelmed, exposed, and that growing sense of aloneness was growing the more surrounded she became. As the crowds shifted and moved around her, she cut through them until she almost stumbled into the Faux Power booth.
Thankfully for her, she caught herself and covered her mouth with her hands as she ground to a halt. She dug her toes into the ground and as her momentum carried her forward she grew a few inches taller, standing on her tip toes to keep from crashing into the stand. When did this get here? How did she not notice it while moving through everyone? And... what are these things? She cocked her head as she looked at the various items on the booth. She gently, quietly took a step towards the items, eyeing the booth to see if the shop keeper had noticed her. She had done her best to stay quiet after all, but as her eyes fell upon the pink goop. It was... quivering, as if it were alive somehow. She couldn't help but bend down to look more closely at it.
"What are you?" She asked softly, her voice no louder then a whisper.

Unfortunately (or fortunately perhaps) for Julia, even a whisper did not go unnoticed by Aul Sol's ears. His long, pointy blue ears swiveled towards the meek lady even though the rest of him was preoccupied. The false woman held his pose for another minute before reaching back into the cart. He plucked out one of the red false lightsabers with a practiced, fluid flick of his wrist. In that same motion, he placed the tip of the false weapon between his thighs and the handle between two of his talons. The crimson light stained the soft, glimmering purple and gold cloth he wore various shades of magenta and orange.
Clearly, this elaborate dragon was Julia's opposite. He's proud of everything he is even though all the men here are more manly. Where the rest had boxy waists, he had luscious hips. Where the rest had broad stiff shoulders, he had tender, but strong shoulders. And no other man's legs in the convention rivalled Aul Sol's. Though his legs are sleek, the false woman's legs are packed with power.
Then, the false woman's eyes look in her direction for a moment. They're cold, artificial. Yet, the words that come out of his mouth - "I'm sure that if it could talk, it would." - palpably drip with warmth and sultry. He was obviously faking that feminine tone, though. He looked away from her again to pose for the other convention goers. "However, I do have other toys in here that're for... stranger audiences. You look like one that'd be all for that."

Julia was fascinated by the pink goop. Why was it quivering, what did it feel like? She glanced at Aul Sol, realizing that the booth's owner was, rather beautiful. If she didn't know any better she would have thought that he was a she, but there were a few things that were just too off that made her able to just barely tell that she was a he. When he spoke up to her, she let out a cute eep. She hadn't expected him to notice her, especially with a whisper like that. She didn't notice the ear motions that helped the false woman's capability to hear her whisper.
Though, he seemed distracted with... being a show off? She rolled her eyes at that and went back to examining the pink putty like goop. She felt compelled to touch it. She really wanted to hold it and see if it still jiggle and wobbled in her hand. She took a deep breath, and reached her hand out to give the putty a soft poke, pushing against the surface of the pink goop. She pushed down against it, almost trying to break the surface of the goop to feel deeper inside of it.
Aul sol talking again made her jump a little. "Stranger?" She asked simply, not sure what he meant by that. As quiet as she was, she was curious about this stall she stumbled upon.

"You know. Those more attuned to the mystical side of things. AKA spooks and stuff." Aul Sol dragged a talon along the length of the glowing, dull blade. "I have a few friends who're into that sort of thing." He winked at Julia. Unbeknownst to her, Aul Sol embedded a sinister entendre in his disclosure. Sure he knew people who were into the occult. But he was also talking about the people he crammed into his stomach and tormented for days on end.
"If you want, some of my more eccentric stuff is over there." He pointed to the box of circuits with his thick, but slender plated orca-like tail. "The one that'd be of most interest to you is the Clairaudience box. Take one of the boards in your hand and focus really, really hard."
"Now if you're the normal sort of strange," Aul Sol continued, "Check out everything else but those boxes. Almost everything at my stand is pretty useful. For example, the pens actually have lights placed near their tips so you can see what you write in the dark."
While Aul Sol was talking, the runny putty was doing... other things. What other things, one might ask? Gurgling, bubbling up between Julia's fingers and holding them tightly. Julia could still take it off if she wanted to. If Julia did so, then the warm slime would've quivered away from her finger. Either this object was a really strange putty made with special chemicals or it was one of those low-maintenance pets sold in the toy section.

Julia huffs at the man. He seemed way to interested in his other wares. Why wasn't he even coming over to explain the goop that was... err... enveloping her fingers. Julia blinked at the stuff as it wiggled, jiggled and quivered over her fingers. She wasn't scared from it. After all, what was there to be scared of? It had to be some sort of special combination of chemicals right? It wasn't magical or anything, that didn't exist! She huffed and wiggled her fingers within the pink slime, even as it gurgled and bubbled up between her fingers. It felt so thick and warm too.
"Wow..." She exclaimed softly. She looked over at the other side of the booth and puffed her cheeks out. Light up pens, clairaudience box, and other such things strewn across the booth were what Aul Sol had his eyes on and what he wanted people to see. Julia didn't care for them that much, but she was a smart girl. She'd have to barter with the man in order to get some information from him.
"I... I'll.." Her voice caught in her throat. Her nerves were getting to her, so her words were coming out as cute squeaks instead. She gathered herself and tried again. "I'll look at your other... wares if you tell me about this?" She asked, trailing her words off like a question. She was obviously referring to the pink goop. Julia wasn't sure, but was it creeping up her fingers? It felt much more lively then it should be.

Aul Sol softly chuckled. Oh how he wanted to pat her delicate cheeks with the broadside of his claws just to feel her skin wibble with his movements. However, that'd be creepy. And creepy was the opposite of fabulous. "That, my dear, would be the new toy pets I made for this year's convention." He answered. "You ever seen those sea monkeys in the toys' section?"
"Of course you have." He answered for her. "Think of it like that, except you don't have to keep it in a cage. Completely safe and edible, though I don't recommend you actually eat one. The best part is you can also use it to clean your keyboard too! I'm sure you have one that's just rife with crumbs and stuff. Here, let me demonstrate."
Aul Sol then pulled up a keyboard from behind the booth. He scooped up a copious amount of the goop in his left hand and smothered the keyboard in it. The goop that entered the keyboard wobbled the keyboard for a few seconds. It then dripped back into Aul Sol's hand and spat out a dust ball. "See? Totally harmless and gives you free fuzzballs for inedible things it found."
As for the goop still in Julia's hands, it started making suck-sucking noises on Julia's hand. Was it trying to mimic a dog? The goop shivered when Aul Sol said edible before returning to its mock gumming-licking-whatever-it-was.

As Julia listened to him speak of it being some sort of pet, she couldn't help but blush at that. "How is this a pet? Its... goop." She said softly, wiggling her fingers in the pink ooze as it made those strange sucking noises on her hand. That goop ball oozed over the keyboard that Aul Sol presented and she couldn't help but widen her eyes at the sight of it wiggling and spitting out a dust ball afterwards. "Oh... Oh wow." She says softly, her eyes wide with amazement. She wiggled her fingers in the container some more. It was one of the smaller sized ones.
After a few moments though, she tried to pull her hand from the goop, and pulled her wallet out. "I Uh... I'd like to buy one of these then." She says softly, her cheeks flushing a little. SHe was sold right from one little demonstration, even if it wasn't actually real and it was some trick. She felt a want to keep one. IF it really was a pet, maybe it was what she needed in her life. Something simple and easy to take care of. If the goop had let her fingers go, she'd probably wipe any excess goop off on her pants.
Though, there was something that was starting to bother her. "What do you mean by edible? Like, is it things that are edible to it or naturally edible to us?"

The goop Julia picked up earlier let go of her hand with a resounding smack before retreating it back to the container. It slouched to one side of its container, as if watching its potential new owner intently.
"That's an unusual question, but I'll answer it." Aul Sol leaned close to her face. "Though you will have to tell me why you asked that since that's usually as clear as day."
The false dragon woman then leaned back. "The goop is naturally edible to us. Fantastic flavor, but it'd make you hurl for sure. It'd wriggle all the way down if you did that." His pupils thinned to slits for a moment. "Hence why I don't recommend eating one. The one that was playing with you costs $5 per container. I'd say that's a quite a deal for these little guys. Or girls. Or its."
He flipped his shiny, wavy dark blue hair. "Some of them insist on being called its and it confuses me. How the heck am I supposed to address them correctly if they switch it up on me the next day? Now that that's explained -"
He twirled the toy saber he posed with and pointed it at his other wares. "Is there anything you'd also like to check out while you're here? Any and all demonstrations come free of charge."

Julia eyed the goop curiously. It really was alive, wasn't it? She smiled softly at it, even going so far as to wave a few fingers at it, just in case it was able to see... somehow. She'd never seen anything like it before and it fascinated her. Aul Sol didn't need to push hard at all to get her to put five dollars on the booth and scoop up the container holding the goop she had been 'playing' with.
"Hey there little gal." She said softly, taking Aul Sol's gender explination of the goop and rolling with it. How does it have a gender anyways? It must just be some roleplaying or some other weirdness that she can't put her finger on. Either way she smiled softly at the cute thing and held the container in her hands as she listened to him speak some more.
Her lips curled into a frown as he mentions eating it. "Hey, why would I want to eat it? It seems like it has its own thoughts and feelings." She huffs, puffing her cheeks out as she edges over to the clairaudience boards. "Well, you seem pretty intersted in showing off your wares." She says, looking through his work quietly. She frowned again. She wasn't sure what she wanted to look at, and that lack of commitment towards a choice was easily painted on her face. It didn't help that something felt off about the false dragon.

The goop repeatedly slapped the side of its container. Yay, it was being called a she, not an it! The goop bubbled up with happiness and ignored its odd seller for now.
After Julia put down the money, Aul Sol blurted a quick, "Thank you very much." He pulled out one of the drawers on the cart and stuffed the money inside it. The dragon didn't have a register, but at least all that money was organized in some form or fashion.
Aul Sol then plucked out one of the clairaudience boards and slid it over to her. He turned away from her and shrugged. Julia might've not answered why she asked the question directly, but her concern for the goop answered him indirectly. So he accepted that for an answer. "Well I had to make sure that there was a safe way to clean up any drops it left behind. I don't like polluting. Other than that..."
He sighed. "I thought that'd be a good selling point with the men at the event. Sure monsters are supposed to be vicious and stuff, but... Some of the people here get too into character. I'm just glad that you're my first customer for these little guys. Speaking of first times," Aul Sol looked back at her. "How'd you first hear of it? Internet? Friends? Word of mouth?"

Julia smiled at the slime's happy response to her calling it a she. "You're a lively one aren't you?" She said warmly, going so far as to wiggle her finger against the top of the goop as a way of petting the soft goopy slime. She wasn't sure if it was sentient or not but if it was she wanted it to feel cared for. She could do that much couldn't she? Aul Sol's words made her raise a brow though, "What do you mean?" SHe asked him softly. Monsters? Was he getting just as into the roleplaying as he complained about?
Though his words of being glad that she was the first customer for them made her blush a little, "I uh.. thanks." She says meekly, quietly shifting towards the board he had offered to her. She put the slime away for real this time in her pack. She eyed the board curiously now. "What's this supposed to do?" She asked curiously, though when asked about how she heard of this place she frowned.
"A... friend bought me a ticket. He paid for the plane trip too which made me a little nervous but..." She paused. Part of her told her to shut up here, but she felt the wnat to talk a little more, and maybe there was a little bit of self-pity in her that wanted out. "I don't have anyone at home. There's not much for me where I live, and I didn't want him to waste his money on me. So I came." She said simply. She still didn't know how to feel about how sudden it had been.

A friend?
Paid for a plane trip?!
Aul Sol's haughty, flamboyant composure crumbled in an instant. The toy sword he played with clattered against the floor. His black lips curled into a snarl and he stamped his foot against the ground.
What kind of a friend would tell her to go enjoy herself without going with her?! She'd be alone in this literal urban jungle! Did her 'friend' even know what happened at the Main Event?!
Either he did or he didn't care. People who handed too many handouts to Aul Sol in the past always had ulterior motives. It was safe to assume that either bit about Julia's 'friend' was true.
The dragon drag queen hadn't cared about who got his number in the past. But he did now. Should he check his number? Probably not now. That would just unsettle the girl further.
He quickly picked up the toy sword, fiddling with the switch at the handle. "There's a lot of scumbags in the world. Some of them don't need an excuse to be disgusting. Others want to have an excuse as a cover." He neglected to mention himself for obvious reasons. "Anyway,"
The false woman tried putting the board into her hands. "You hold this tight in your hands. You concentrate on a sound in your mind or around you for a few minutes. After that, you should start hearing things most people can't. Emphasis on should. Sometimes it's flaky with certain people."

Julia blinked at Aul Sol when he dropped the toy sword. "H..hey are you ok?" She asked softly, her voice filled with concern. She even leaned over the counter in order to see into his stand to make sure he was alright. Was it something she said? She could see that snarl and it felt like anger was radiating off of him. "Hey, hey! Its ok. I'm sure they just wanted me to have fun instead of staying home for once." She said softly, trying to coax him out of that rather obvious anger. She of course, was lying and didn't sound too convincing. She had met the 'friend' once or twice in high school and hadn't heard from him in years.
When Julia got here it was strange to her that they pinned a number to her chest, though she had been thankful that the person who pinned it to her hadn't tried to do anything else, like cop a feel. Her number was easily on display for Aul Sol to see if he really did want to check his number to hers. She however, was unaware of that little thought string.
When he suddenly pulled himself back together she frowned. "Yeah, the world's a terrible place. But I've grown used to it. People's idiocy will take others away from you but... that's life right?" She said, trying to smile but failing to be convincing. Her eyes gave away the sadder thoughts swelling in her head. Her mind drifted to her sister, who had gone missing a few years ago. She didn't have much hope to seeing her again.
A soft eep left her lips when the clairaudience board was pushed into her hands. "Oh, is it going to make me hear anything specific? LIke noises or... people?" She asked suddenly. Julia took a breath to try and calm her mind and focused on the board in her hands...

"Yeah, that's life..." Aul Sol trailed off. Sometimes life was also cruel enough to take advantage of people's wiles to defy it too. He still frowned, but much of the anger that boiled up earlier wasn't as evident now.
He glanced back at the board. "You'll definitely hear noises. Whether you hear people depends on if there are sprits around. You should be able to since they aren't that hard to find 'round here."
The dragon drag queen continued playing with the switch at the handle while she focused. The board warmed up between her hands with an unnatural heat. The warmth roared between her hands, but it did not burn her. The heat flowed through every gold line on the board, but it did not turn the circuits white from the blazing heat. If Julia had picked up the clairvoyance board earlier, then she would've seen those circuits ablaze with golden white energy.
As the board started to activate, the rest of the goop that Aul Sol put on display clustered towards her as much as they could. Would she be able to hear them? They hoped so. All the goop kept eagerly patting the sides of their containers.
