Despite all the excited crowds, all the fun costumes, and all the neat things on display that conventions were know for there was always one features of conventions that an avid con goer would dread. The scourge of nerds and enthusiasts alike, a harrowing obstacle that humbled all.
The ticket line.
And so it was to Joselynn's great relief when she saw the entrance to the convention was nearly entirely devoid of said line. Many a time had she been forced to wait, sometimes in the hot sun for hours, simply so that she could actually get into a convention. After all, trying to herd hundreds of people was no small task. But as luck would have it she didn't have to put up with that today. "Thank god..." She sighed in relief as she placed a hand on the noticeable baby bump she was sporting and adjusted the heavy looking duffel bag slung over her shoulder.
She grinned widely as she waddled to the ticket desks and paid the entrance fee before receiving a small bag filled with scheduling information, a map, a few advertisements, and her number which she happily applied to her chest so anybody could visibly see it. She looked full of energy as she started looking around, taking in the sites of the convention. Just being at a convention again was such a relaxing feeling. There was always an air of friendliness at conventions, knowing that you can turn to a random person and always being able to count on them being helpful and nice. And why would this con be any different? After all, they were both efficient enough to avoid line issues and small enough that the crowds weren't a hassle. Small conventions were the best!
She took a deep breath and huffed to try and calm herself. No good tiring herself out with excitement this early! She quickly waddled up towards a large map of the convention on a nearby wall and looked over it.

Lynn Severin filed into the line just behind her. 'Hm. I'm starting a little late, but most conventions have people going in and out at all times. I guess this is more niche than I thought.'
Aside from that, she had two main concerns. She didn't want to run into anyone she knew, and she wanted to find out why the sponsors of this event had such poor recordkeeping for such a long-running event...

Joselynn studied the map for a moment, scanning over the schedule and events and shops. She needed to figure out where to go first of course. But there were so many options and her indecisiveness was rearing it's head. So she decided to stand around and think for a moment and take in the sights. She had been used to seeing all kinds of crazy costumes before and so she didn't give the impressive outfits she was seeing any doubt.
So it was a rather mundane looking girl who caught her attention as she quietly gasped to herself.
A ponytail buddy!
She grinned widely in excitement at the mundane connection she shared with the girl who had been behind her in line. She fidgeted for a moment as she worked up the courage to say something.
"Hey, nice hair! You looking forward to the con?" She grinned as she tried to play it cool and absentmindedly placed a hand on her belly.

Lynn took a second to compose herself, "Yeah. I heard these events are always unique." While picking out a few pamphlets, she sized the other woman up and picked a tangential question, "I guess you hated the idea of missing it too?"

Joselynn nodded in confirmation. "Yep! I was kinda worried about coming since I need to save money, but since this one was super cheap for girls I couldn't resist. And it's probably going to be my last con." She said as she looked down at her belly. "At least for a while. This thing is going to be keeping me pretty busy." She chuckled before looking back up at Lynn. "Oh, but if this is your first convention then that makes you a con virgin! Heh, do you need any help with trying to figure out what to do? Not that you need my help, but just in case you're not sure where to start I could point you in the right direction."

Bek's "costume" appears to have been salvaged from a low-budget horror movie's dumpster; you can even see the zipper! His own ugly face can barely be seen from the shadows of the "monster's" jaws, but even so a green scarf covers his maw and a pair of shades conceal his yellow eyes. The largest innovation he's made has been to tear out the animatronics in its tail, stuffing his own inside, and replacing the eyes and teeth with glittering stones from the riverbed.
His approach to the convention entrance is like that of a Mack truck, and his voice is a low throaty rumble.
"Good morning!" he says brightly. Is it morning? His iPhone's clock had stopped being accurate since he'd gotten the thing wet. Couldn't be helped, really.
His eyes spy a pair of delicious-looking girls, and he salivates a bit. "Pardon my overhearing," he says as he joins the line, turning somewhat so his ten feet of tail doesn't get in the way, "I've never been to one of these, either."

"Oh. Hell... Oooooh..." Joselynn was caught off guard by the massive beast towering over them. Her mouth hung open slightly as she gawked, her hands instinctively wrapping around her belly. She suddenly felt very small and vulnerable. She blinked a few times before she regained her senses and smiled awkwardly.
"H-Hey there, nice costume! You a con virgin too then? Don't worry, you'll have a blast. Just be careful you don't step on anybody." She teased as she looked over his outfit. He was huge... She would be surprised if she both of them could fit in his costume together.

"Seemed like it'd be fun - hope I didn't go too big!" He chuckles a little and swishes his tail good-naturedly.
One of the "monster's" arms extends first to the pregnant woman, then to the other. "My name is Beck. I hope we get a chance to hang out together inside!"

"Hmm, well why not? It sounds fun." Lynn responded. She didn't know either of these people, but they seemed like they could be fun to be around. "So, what are you dressed as? I didn't have time to put a costume together myself, but I probably should have..."

"It's an anthropomorphized kaiju," Bek begins to explain. "Ever see Pacific Rim? This is my imagining of a human-kaiju hybrid!"
This is sorta true. Sorta. Someone imagined a human-kaiju hybrid, and Bek got his grubby claws on the suit afterward!
"The hardest part was giving the limbs and tail such a range of articulation. If y'all want, I could tell you more about it… after the costume contest." He beams to himself. "Still can't do cartwheels, but this rig can manage walking, running, and even moon-walking."

"Cooooooool..." Joselynn smiled as she looked over the suit, circling him as he listed off details about his outfit. She made sure to give his tail a wide berth as she did so, soaking in the costume's realistic movements. "I loved that movie. Hehe, I think I'd make a good kaiju myself. There was a pregnant one, after all." She smirked. "Usually I costume, but I've been too stressed out recently to put any effort into making one that would fit me. I was thinking about seeing if they have any for sale though. Maybe you could get one too?" She said to Lynn.

"You look like you've been on your feet for a while," Bek says. He turns slowly, bringing the tail to Lynn and Joselynn. "Why don't you hop on, I can take you over to get some costumes?"
Bek is somewhat surprised at himself; his offer is genuine.

"Uh, thank you, but I wouldn't want to overburden you. That tail looks heavy already," Lynn tries to turn him down politely. "I wasn't aware they sold costumes here though. Do you mind if I follow you instead?"

Joselynn gasped as he offered his tail. "Ah... Are you sure it can handle the weight? I wouldn't want to, uh, break it or anything." She frowns as she looks over his tail and places a hand on it. She pushes down on it gently to test it's weight. It seemed rather sturdy and made out of material that wasn't going to be crushed under her. "I gueeeeess it couldn't hurt." She grinned and held her bag close to her as she turned around and planted her ass on a sturdy part of his tail. She wiggled as she got comfortable and looked up at him. "You sure you'll be okay dragging me around?"

"You're just fine," he says to Joselynn. The tail is a broad seat, warm, but that's more from spending time in the summer sun - Bek is as cold-blooded as any other reptile.
When Joselynn wiggles her ass on the tail, the latex and foam rubber squeaks a bit, but the tail holds her weight solidly. "Hold on," the river-spirit says, lifting her off the ground. When he sees Lynn still on her feet, he shrugs his massive shoulders. "Your loss," he says teasingly.
"I don't actually know if they sell costumes inside, but I'm guessing the convention expert can tell us."
